[pstricks] Transparency and Fonts

Attached is an exported version of a picture I made with corel draw. I
was hoping to use psfrag to replace the fonts, but it doesn't work quite
right.

When I do
\psfrag{ni}[][]{$-i$}

The text is correctly replaced, but corel draw additionally stored the
font as a graphic as well. That is, the fonts that were shaded (due to
transparency) were included in the EPS file as graphics and fonts. So
when I used psfrag, all the text was replaced correctly, but there was
an additional graphic. Please see the second attachment: sigmavector2.gif.

Anyway, it seems like this probably isn't going to work. Perhaps
someone has an idea about this.

Is there a way to create this drawing with pstricks? Any help would be
greatly appreciated.

SVG supports transparency...my problem seems to be created when I export
to EPS...is that because EPS doesn't support transparency? If I could
include svg files in my latex documents, would this fix my problem? Is
there any solution that allows one to use SVG files instead of EPS files
as graphics...and subsequently, to replace text in those SVG files with
latex text?

Thanks,
Chris
