Hi Alvin!

Don't let such a trivial issue prevent you from experiencing LateX!! I promise it's worth it.

When you unrar the ProTeXt package, you get a proTeXt directory. Just go into your ...\proTeXt\TeXnicCenter directory and run the installation file TXCSetup_1StableRC1.exe manually. It's gonna work like a charm.
I downloaded the 750Mb installation for the four components w/o apparent difficulty. The installation of MiKTEX proceeded also w/o apparent difficulty.
When I clicked on the link for the bat file that installs TEXnic Center, I received a message that said the system cannot find "C:\Documents". No small wonder! I don't have such a directory.

I must say that, though I have not paid for the software, I am disappointed to note this sort of problem.

Alvin Hofer
St Pete FL
