[protext] installation problem

you're not quite right, that the documentation says you've to enter 
C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.5. Indeed it tells you that the executables 
"refers to the Installa- tion Directory you set up when you installed 
MiKTEX (normally C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.5), that will provide the 
path miktex\bin."

Therefore enter C:\Program Files\MiKTeX 2.5\miktex\bin and TeXnicCenter 
will find everyting what it needs.
