there are a few more issues, like reading map files after page 1 is flushed 
and blocking loading of the default file psfonts.map (which is loaded when 
no entry is given in pdftex.cfg, which can conflict with run time loading 
of map files using \pdfmapfile.

this will be sorted out -)
