[pdftex] More on Spacing problem on imagesetter

Frank Siegert once did some trouble-shooting for me for a .pdf made by
his pStill.app from a TeX file.

Apparently TeX / dvips tosses metric / kerning info into a font when it
re-encodes it. He provided me with a snippet of .ps code which forced
the PostScript interpreter in pStill to set each character individually
or some such.

Perhaps looking at this snippet would help / could be applied within
pdfTeX as an option?
