[metapost] latex text along a curve

Hello,
new to metapost I have a new question:
is it possible to draw latex text along a curve ?
I try the txp package which work well with string but not with a string
converted to a latex object which is a picture if I understand well.

In fact I try to emulate the possibility given by the graphics package
plus pst-text extension.
Which base command is :

\pstextpath[position](x,y){GraphicObject}{Text}
