including mp files in pdftex is independent of this: there inclusion is 
done by using just tex code and therefore subsetting takes place;

i'd rather not see the fonts in the mp output unless explicitly asked 
for, so we'd need a dedicated 'includefonts := 1' for that

btw, the charm of mp output is that it's small; the last couple of years 
it has never been a problem to produce a stand alone graphic (using 
mptopdf and pdftops)
