[OS X TeX] strange behaviour of dvipdfmx and xdvipdfmx in Emacs

This resolves my issue. Let me post the solution here. Add the following lines
  (setenv "LC_CTYPE" "UTF-8")
  (setenv "LC_ALL" "en_US.UTF-8")
  (setenv "LANG" "en_US.UTF-8")
to ~/.emacs, therefore everything is fine.
