Since then, TeXShop on my office machine doesn’t find the (private) macros files when called, and “My Templates” does not show up in the pulldown menu under “Templates”. Can I do anything to get back the Dropbox functionality for these files?

I recently went through the replacement scenario you mention, at my office, with the OS going from 10.9 to 10.10. I use dropbox, and all I had to do was go to the dropbox site, download their installer, and after installing and logging in, syncing started and I was soon up and running.

So, the obvious questions (since you don't mention it): did you install dropbox and log in to your account from your system?
