Yes, I am trying that.

I thought I stated that Lion hides the ~/Library/ folder by default and how to open it by holding down the Option Key while clicking on the Go menu in Finder.

You did, and I knew about that.  But you can't "Save as.." to that folder from within TeXShop, as far as I can tell, since the trick you talk about only works in Finder/Go.
