I wonder how old this is. When did they reviewed pdfTeX the last time?
I wonder if you just could remove the pdfTeX entries in the metadata
with hyperref. I wonder if they can tell the difference.

I only had problems with PDFs created with Word 2010 because Preview
couldn't handle the fonts.
