Have you tried 

http://www.simpletex4ht.free.fr/ ?

Should work more or less out of the box w/ a recent MacTeX install and if you are using article class (maybe others).

Output to Openoffice.org, go from there.

No one has quite mastered RTF to LaTeX yet.
