I validated the font and it is ok but I still have the problem. How did you run your test? For mine, I created an rtf file in textedit using Myriad Pro and printed into pdf. Then I tried Adobe Reader 9.4.3 on it and got 

"Cannot extract the embedded font 'EIOFXX+MyriadPro-Regular'. Some characters may not display or print correctly." 

Adobe Reader will still open the file but it reads only two characters.  It is displayed correctly by Preview and by TeXShop. However, when I send the file to the printer I get the error message: 

ERROR: Invalidfont
OFFENDING COMMAND: definefont
