It seems like a new Aquaterm package 1.1 was released a few months ago for Mac OS 10.6.
So it installs a 64 bit AquaTerm.framework and a 64 bit Aquaterm.app.
You don't need anymore to compile yourself the two components for running Gnuplot in a terminal set to Aqua.
My previous post is still valid when compiling Gnuplot.
I do need Gnuplot when typesetting files TeX with tikz package and some other packages (tkz-base and tkz-fct).
