After Reinstalling the selected package using TLU version 0.88 everything works well.

The solution is to reinstall texlive.infra. This can be done using the command line but the easiest is to install the latest Tex Live Utility that allows you to do the same. See this thread: http://thread.gmane.org/gmane.comp.tex.macosx/37514
