[OS X TeX] updmap-sys won't do its thing

I did enable MnSymbol.map. Here is what I get when I type your updmap  
--listmaps

Here is the file I'm trying to typeset:

\usepackage[mathlf,medfamily,footnotefigures]{MinionPro}
\usepackage[T1]{fontenc}


\begin{document}

Here is a sample. foo.
more of a sample.

\end{document}

I believe MinionPro.sty calls MnSymbol.sty.

To install MinionPro, I followed the recipes given at  
http://carlo-hamalainen.net/blog/?p=8, except that I put the MinionPro  
stuff in /usr/local/texlive/texmf-local instead of the  
/User/Library... I note that these directions put the MnSymbol files  
in /usr/local/share, which is, therefore, what I did. The log, though,  
indicates that it's using MnSymbol.map in /usr/local/texlive/2009.

I don't know if this is relevant.
