[OS X TeX] Why does this hang so = [OT] electronic books

In Soviet Union mathematical books (actually all books) were dirty
cheap no matter if they were original Russian or translated. However
they were printed only once; then typeset was dissembled and reused so
book became instantly out of print. Number of copies printed in one
shot was large albeit not infinite and as book were never reprinted
(except textbooks) at some moment there was no more some title in
normal bookstores in normal large cities and one could find it either
in `bookinist' (second hand books) stores or in really small towns
where they were brought when printed and never found any buyer.
Getting in small towns I always visited bookstore(s) there
