Right, a tex file using gastex requires simpdftex. This is fine in TeXShop 
when TeX and Ghostscript is set in the Prefs > Typesetting. Using 
simpdftex in Emacs <-> Skim goes not so smoothly, with respect to 
automatic update and synctex.
