[OS X TeX] Beamer, columns within itemize

Try for example

	\hspace*{7.5mm}\begin{column}{.45\linewidth}

A \rule{7.5mm}{0mm} would work, too. A problem is that it shifts the  
whole two columns to the right and into the margin, i.e., it can give  
an overfull box.

The real dimension is surely somewhere hidden in the beamer sources...
