Thanks for the advice, Peter. I've made "/usr/local/bin/gs" a  
symbolic link to "/opt/local/bin/gs". At Dick Koch's suggestion I've  
also change the Engine/Distiller preference in TeXShop to "/opt/local/ 
bin".
