Would it be possible to make the package available over bittorrent  
before releasing it on the mirrors? That way the initial stampede  
could be avoided.

The iPhone unlocker community faced a similar "initial rush", and is,  
as I am typing this, using bittorrent to distribute their latest  
release before making it available over http: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/post/47951525/quickpwn-mac
