Thanks, Jan and Alan! I found the file, changed the save_size to 8000; bibtext still didn't process the whole file (but got farther than before), then I changed it to 12000 and now it runs smoothly again. Thanks again (and I made a note of kpsewhich, too). Cheers, Rob
