Right diagnosis !

MacTeX/TeXLive-2007 (the dev version available as texlive-2007-dev.dmg  
from <http://www.tug.org/mactex/morepackages.html>) has for fink.sty:

\ProvidesPackage{fink}[2007/06/11 2.0
                       Keep track of the current filename]

which contains at ligne 104:

    \xdef\finkfile{\fink at file{\finkbase}{\finkext}}

Copy fink.sty to ~/Library/texmf/tex/latex/fink/ and add in the copy a  
% at the end of that line, to make it

    \xdef\finkfile{\fink at file{\finkbase}{\finkext}}%

Your problem should disappear now.
