[OS X TeX] Shadows of pdf in Keynote

Interesting. I didn't know about that preference.

It seems to me that this is definitely a bug in TeXShop or the  
underlying framework. I think that you should be able to turn on "Use  
Color Mapping", set the opacity of the background to 0, and get a  
transparent background.

You can see that it's a bug by clicking on the background color  
selector in that preference, picking a color other than black/white,  
and playing with the opacity slider. When you do this and use the  
selection tool to drag selections to keynote, you'll get different  
shades of the background color, but you don't get any actual  
transparency, which you should. All you get with a lower opacity is a  
paler background, with a white background at zero opacity, not a  
transparent background. If I do the same thing with the opacity slider  
on some shapes in OmniGraffle (for example), the colors become  
partially transparent at less than 100% opacity.

I've attached a pdf exported from OmniGraffle showing four objects,  
two pdfs dragged from TeXShop and two circles created in OG. The text  
with the green background is on the bottom, and the text with the  
orange background is on the top. All four objects should have some  
transparency, but the pdfs from TeXShop do not. If you drag this pdf  
to Keynote, you'll see that you can see through the circles but not  
the text (if you put something underneath).

Can anyone else get a pdf with a transparent background by selecting a  
region and dragging it from the preview window in TeXShop?
