Howdy,

If you want the window to be full width permanently set it the way  
you want it (leaving a few pixels open at the bottom of the window so  
scrolling works) and press Source->Save Source Position (in TeXShop  
2.14) or TeXShop->Preferences->Document and make that the Source  
Window Position setting is ``All windows start at fixed position''  
and press ``Set with current position.''
