Howdy,

Whenever I need to update I use i-installer. You've also added  
several i-packages that I've downloaded and installed, some fairly  
recently, and they have just worked :-).

I'm not sure, but will an update via the MacTeX installer wipe out  
texmf.local? If so, that would be a bad thing. I've got backups so I  
could just move over my old one and re-do the configuration stage but  
others may be horribly surprised.
