Could be a \usepackage{cmap} as first line after \documentclass  
corrects it ...

Unicode has no B with a bar on it, so it needs to be composed from B  
and ̅, a combining macron or such. Could be the cmap package adds  
exactly this information for the TeX macron ... (TeX uses a very  
strange encoding)
