You're writing nonsense here: there is no file /fonts/map/dvips/
archaic/etruscan.map in a regular teTeX release. And in a regular
teTeX release you are not supposed to use updmap-sys as an user.

Try to run

	sudo -H updmap-sys --syncwithtrees

to reduce the recent mess and look whether the contents of
etruscan.map has been copied into /usr/local/teTeX/share/texmf.local/
fonts/map/pdftex/updmap/pdftex.map!

Claiming that the Macintosh is inferior to Windows because most
people use Windows, is like saying that all other restaurants serve
food that is inferior to McDonald's.
