[OS X TeX] Footnote

If a footnote is long and it appears at the end of a page, then LaTeX  
will put it on two pages. I see three solutions:

(1) force a page break before the footnote

(2) do some re-writing

(3) Put something like \interfootnotelinepenalty=10000 in the preamble
