I dunno if ``requires'' is the word I'd use here, ``allows'' maybe.

If you distill to a .pdf and place that you'll get a nice sharp  
rendering, like to what one gets in NeXTstep when placing a .eps  
('cept that Illustrator back then couldn't place a .eps). This will  
not re-draw as quickly as the lousy bitmap preview however.
