[OS X TeX] i-Installer and local maps and hyphenation patterns

This simply reflects the fact that the TeX i-Package in i-Installer  
has been designed to work with /usr/local/gwTeX/texmf.local only, and  
not with ~/Library/texmf. This was done so that i-Installer can  
update one configuration easily, by always looking for files at a  
specific place (as opposed to browsing user home directories).

As far as I know, the only way to work with font and map files  
located in ~/Library/texmf is to use updmap from the command line.  
Same with fmtutil.
