As far as I remember i-installer did not create a texmf folder in 
/Users/xx/Library, but well I would not swear an oath on that.

At least for my setup the texmf folder in my library was created when I 
copied that folder from the TeXShop-Install dmg. It usually just 
contains the pdfsync.sty.
And if I remember correct in the latest TeXShop Beta, this pdfsync.sty 
is not necessary anymore and therefore the texmf-folder is not supplied 
in the dmg anymore.

But well these are just my 2 cent.
