I agree with Paul Smyth, and I would like to ask a question.

All these people who are so fond of vi, do they mean that a mouse is
useless, or some kind of nuisance?

At the time when I had to learn vi, it was such a mess to make a
correction or an insertion! Do they use a new version, mouse-
friendly, of vi, or the old one ? For me, having to learn vi at the
beginning of the 90's was as unpleasant as being forced to enter
bits, eight at a time, into the central memory, by using a panel of
eight switches --- I've seen that, on a Honeywell computer.

In fact, I had to learn Unix. But when I came to the chapter on vi in
my Unix textbook, and I read from there that "vi" was a "powerful and
convenient text editor" (translated from the French), I came readily
to the conclusion that all these Unix people were damned liers.

I have learned some Unix tricks, since that time, but they didn't
help me.
