[OS X TeX] TeX and Illustrator Fonts -- CMR Works and Lucida doesn't

Just a thought --- did you check to see if the CMR fonts are in 
*Library/Application\ Support/Adobe ?

I would second using Maarten's ghostscript solution, as even with CMR 
fonts problems occur in Illustrator (with odd characters missing - \pm 
and \gamma come to mind).
