Correct; that will influence the initial xterm when you launch  
X11.app.  Use xterm -ls to give you a login shell with your default  
path.  BTW, another handy command (in Terminal.app) is `open-x11  
fontforge`, which will start fontforge or another X11 program with  
the display properly set.
