[OS X TeX] Can't find bst files

Where should one put extra .bst files?

I tried putting acmsiggraph.bst in what looks to be the right place:

~/Library/texmf/tex/bibtex/bst

but then on running Bibtex from TeXShop I just got

I couldn't open style file acmsiggraph.bst
---line 97 of file papers_0080.aux
  : \bibstyle{acmsiggraph
  :                      }

It all works fine if the bst file is in the same directory as the LaTeX
