Well, what a surprise to see my blog entry pop up here! I didn't think
to forward it to the list. Thanks to Bruno for mentioning it.

Bruno has also been very helpful in helping me get oriented to
DocBook--he's answered a number of e-mails of mine about that question.

I'm continuing to struggle with DocBook mainly because it's the
documentation method for DarwinPorts (for which, as Juan notes, I'm
working on a GUI). The solution I've found, for the moment, is XMLMind's
XML Editor, a nice Java-based tool that has a free version if you're
only generating HTML output. I think I may post a follow-up entry about
that at my blog.

For my other projects, though, I plan to stick with LaTeX, TeXShop,
Texmaker, latex2html, and I-Installer. Here the open-source tools don't
just equal, but far surpass the commercial alternatives. (I briefly
looked at that new comemrcial editing program everyone's been talking
about--its name escapes me--but deleted it quickly. Ugly, ugly, ugly.)
And the community is amazingly helpful.

Since I've become more proficient with Tcl, I may take another look at
tkbibtex and see if I can actually get it to open files that are
drag/dropped on the app icon. If I can, then I'll get rid of AppleScript
and package it as a standalone application.

Also, I'm working on another build of Emacs, but this new version will
incorporate David Reitter's Aqua extensions package (set of .el packages
that incorporate Apple keyboard shortcuts, add better Mac font support,
etc). This has made Emacs much more useful for me. Here's a link:
