Great, I am hoping that someone will maintain a dmg and also make
carbon (also aqua?) emacs part of fink! Why should we manually build
this package when there is in fact a nice system for .finkinfo files???

It also seems to be a very good idea since many things are shared
between the various emacs-??? packages in fink, and emacs-carbon and
emacs-aqua are yet another variation. There are already packages in
fink that do not belong to the /sw-directory, e.g. Xdarwin, and there
are also already carbon-specific packages in fink.

Why not extend the fink distribution to also cover Applications/ or
--- even better!!! -- why not att a Applications directory inside
fink e.g.

/sw/Applications/Emacs.app
/sw/Applications/Xemacs.app
  etc

It is easy to create symbolic links if someone insists to have these
in /Applications instead...

The above solution seems to solve ALL problems with the fink people's
annoyance with non-/sw packages... I think they have to accept that
Mac OS X is in fact slightly different from e.g. Debian when it comes
to its application format etc. (No flame intended.)

Best
Wishes
Johan
