Dear fellow TeX on Mac users,

I apologize for going somewhat off topic, but hopefully not that far.

I have just read and signed the online petition:

"Russian Localization for Mac OS X Tiger"

hosted on the web by PetitionOnline.com, the free online petition
service, at:

    http://www.PetitionOnline.com/rumacosx/

A Russian-speaking TeX user on a Mac is less vulnerable to lack of
proper localization than an average user because of
internationalization features of the TeX/LaTeX system itself. However
the Mac platform is not for TeX wizards.

The open-source nature of Mac OS X and the competitively priced Mac
Mini should make the Macintosh an attractive alternative to MS Windows
and Linux in the former Soviet Union. Lack of support for Russian
language is one of the major factors hampering the wide adoption of
this platform here. Spreading the Mac user base and mobilizing
developers in Russia and the FSU is in the interest of all Mac users.

Among more than 1,500 people having signed the petition so far,
non-Russian-speakers have visible and growing presence. If you can
spare a moment, please take a look at the petition, and consider
signing yourself.

Best wishes,
Andrei
