Really ? Interesting. I did not realize this (that BibTeX transfer of refs directly between ReferenceMiner and BibDesk is possible). To all outward appearances, ReferenceMiner is of extremely limited utility w/o its parent product BookEnds. Bookends is a very capable bibliography manager and worthy of consideration.

Nevertheless, as others have mentioned, if the op is prepared to throw a little money at this project, I would advise considering spending it on Senté:

        <http://www.thridstreesoftware.com/>

This is currently the solution for moving information between online reference DBs and TeX-based output.

(Having said that, the most recent development trajectory of Senté might give one cause for concern that it is likely to mutate into something EndNote-like in the long term rather than concentrating on the core-feature of online DB search management.)

Another reference tool to take a look at is hubmed:

        <http://www.hubmed.org/>

this online service describes itself as "pubmed rewired" and that is appropriate.

If there is some money left over, TextMate:

        <http://www.macromates.com/>

is also worthy of consideration. I love BBEdit, but TextMate has a number of very nice features and tricks pertinent to writing TeX that are definitely worth trying.
