These sample files (the archive XeTeX-samples.tgz from  
<http://scripts.sil.org/cms/scripts/page.php? 
site_id=nrsi&item_id=xetex_download>) are actually rather essential:  
XeTeX has not yet a full-fledged documentation, and the file  
XeTeX-notes.tex inside XeTeX-samples is the closest to a XeTeX manual  
as can get, with the accompanying examples documenting various features  
and tricks undocumented elsewhere.
