Well, I don't know anything about Gerben's iInstaller, nor do  I know
if this will solve your problem.

You can generate the cont-en.efmt by running

texexec --make --alone en metafun 

on the command line. (Well for the cont-en.efmt only "en" would be necessary.)

And then, you can copy the resulting metafun.mem and cont-en.efmt to
your web2c directory. Of course I don't know where this is located on
your system and which one would be advisable.

Perhaps /usr/local/teTeX/web2c/ ?
