[OS X TeX] Problems with Bibdesk using elsart.cls

I guess you got the start of your bibliography wrong; it should read

\bibliographystyle{natbib}
\bibliography{any_abbreviations_or_nothing,your_bibfile}

Only these two lines, nothing else.
