I know, but I was only responding to the last remark you made:

A complete install comes with the Context from teTeX 3, which may be 
older than the most recent release. That is why there is a separate 
updater. The exact same thing happens with a "normal" update of the TeX 
package, there is nothing special about TL2005 in that respect. And 
there is no need to remove the texmf.local tree - it is _your_ 
installed stuff, so unless you put some files there that should not be 
there (causing real conflicts), you should be fine.
