No. Don't worry. This trick works since OS X 10.0 -- or earlier 
probably -- with any standard Cocoa app. Roughly speaking, Keyboard 
Shortcuts tab in Keyboard & Mouse PrefPane, added in Panther, is just a 
GUI.
