[OS X TeX] DarwinPorts/package managers, and which do you prefer: htlatex or latex2html?

If you are using \usepackage[T1]{fontenc} in your documents will have 
trouble with ligatures when using TeX4ht (htlatex). This probably has 
something to do with T1 encoding, but I don't know that.  I just 
comment all of font-related control sequences before running htlatex, 
then uncomment when done.
