[OS X TeX] Books?

Thanks to everybody who replied so fast and gave me their insights
and recommendations, very much appreciated! I was recommended "The not
so short guide to LaTeX2e" twice and when I downloaded it I realized I
already had it. Between Lamport's and Kopka's books the consensus seems
to be in favor of Kopka, which is what I had originally thought, so I
will stick to my already made decision.

Just one question to you Andreas, if I may:

What three volumes? Everywhere I've looked I've seen Kopka's book
as a one tome publication. Take Amazon, for example, if you look for
Latex publications there you'll see Kopka's book as a single volume, no
more tomes. Where could I check this out? Is the one sold at Amazon the
first tome?

Thank you all again for your time and help. Sincerely,...
