[OS X TeX] problem with latin1 fonts

Hi,

I'm a french user of latex and i use texshop 1.1.9 with tetex on mac os 
X.1.4.

I have a problem of viewing the pdf result file when i have inserted 
these lines in my latex file :

\documentclass[12pt]{article}
% Pour les accents
\usepackage[latin1]{inputenc}
  \usepackage[T1]{fontenc}


So when i delete the 2 lines whith the "usepackage" instruction, il 
works and the pdf file after compiling is good. I don't understand while 
the "latin1" package make problems...

Anyone has an explication ?
