[OS X TeX] Button not enabled for bibtex files

It is nice that TeXShop recognizes bibtex files, so that the file is
opened when double-clicked. When I first used this, you could hit the
"command" button (on the far left of the panel at the top of the TeXShop
input window) and it would run BibTeX on the file. However, several
versions later, when opening a .bib file, the command button reads
"TeX", and is disabled (i.e. grayed out). Can anyone replicate this
behavior? Is this a bug, or has a preference file become corrupted, or
something else? The workaround is to call bibtex from the command line,
but I liked just pressing the button.
