In principle TeXShop and CMacTeX could be configured to use the copies of
tetex and ghostscript installed by fink.  I haven't tried this recently, so
I don't know if it's possible in practice.  I agree with you that the
duplication is a waste.

In fact, it ought to be possible to construct an alternate installation
method for TeXShop and/or CMacTeX which uses the fink system for
installation.  I've been thinking about trying to do this, if people are
interested.
